belledamnfirst of all sorry i’m once again late with my letter and also thank you so so much in advance! whatever you write i am sure i will love it!! ♡
general likes: ambiguous relationships, emotional honesty (no matter how brutal), open endings, grief, acknowledgment of chronic pain/injuries, realistic depictions of physical symptoms, digging into physical or emotional discomfort in a raw or unpleasant way, quiet moments, intimacy rather than explicit romance, snippets or slice-of-life, liminal spaces (airports, long car rides, the kitchen in the middle of the night, etc), characters so traumatized they can’t actually directly talk about their trauma, characters who don’t actually know what the trauma even is, characters with a lack of self-awareness in general, outside pov!!!!!!!!!
really really not kidding about the ambiguous relationships thing like to be honest if you write something and kind of wonder “does this even count as [x pairing]” in my mind the answer is probably yes. i just really love strange intimacy between people in an as-of-yet undefined relationship…
general dislikes: explicit sex, wrapping up a traumatic situation in a neat bow, tropey romance or romance as plot/character conflict resolution, hurt no comfort, gore, excessive guilt about other people’s trauma, overuse of therapy speak. i don’t mind AUs at all, but i don’t like when they take all the teeth out of the original canon. like i was going to type out “coffee shop AUs” as an example but even a coffee shop AU can be done well if it preserves the emotional tension and conflict of the original media! so don’t feel constricted or anything.
request 1: btvs (giles/jenny)
btvs is such a fun canon to read (& write!) fic for because there’s this general sense of being able to do whatever you want — just blame it on a curse, or a visitor from another dimension, or a demon, or what have you. which is to say that you can pretty much do anything here and i’d enjoy it! for vibe reference one of my favourite giles/jenny moments is that tiny cut of them in the library after jenny’s first been attacked by eyghon when he’s holding her hand… despite all the guilt of that moment i think he did enjoy having someone to take care of where it was more straightforward (vs. his relationship with buffy which was always so fraught and strangely defined). so you can use that as a vibe reference i guess!
i included a lot of requested tags about dream-related things in part just because i felt they fit the atmosphere of the show, but also because i do think it could really fit them… if you want to play with alternate realities (jenny from another dimension coming after this jenny has died, alternate reality where jenny doesn’t die but someone else does instead, something like that) that could be really cool too. or a wish universe! like where is jenny in cordelia’s horrible wish universe… or you could make up a completely different one…
request 2: doctor who (yaz/thirteen, twelve/clara)
yaz/thirteen: it’s totally up to you how romantic you make this, i’m completely fine with leaving it similar to the show, in that there’s a definite acknowledged thing between them that neither of them get their shit together in time to act on (pathetic useless lesbians rise up… or don’t…) OR if you want to push it further in more of a “what-if” situation that’s cool with me too!!! i just really love the relationship between them no matter how you slice it, yaz’s love and devotion and the way thirteen is genuinely trying, i think, to return her affections in a way that makes sense — it’s just that she doesn’t quite know how. ik i mentioned in the DNWs but one thing i would ask is that you don’t make it a situation where yaz gets hurt and thirteen feels really guilty about it. any kind of trapped on an alien planet / imprisoned by aliens due to a misunderstanding / inhaled an alien substance and now we’re in each other’s dreams / drank something we shouldn’t have in an alien club and now we’re trapped in the same dreamscape type beat...
twelve/clara: honestly i just want you to put these two in a situation like just beat them to hell. even better if the situation is completely their own faults and they actively make it worse. they make me feel unhinged because they are, themselves, unhinged, so feel free to lean into that… i will say that one of my favourite moments for them is the iconic volcano scene in dark water BUT SPECIFICALLY the “clara look in your hand” line, i think something about them both running to the brink together and then him pulling back just in time and then trying to pull her back too… does that even make sense…

wait also going through my tag and i remembered this post and if you wanted to do something post-danny’s death that would also be amazing! clara and danny’s relationship was so unhealthy but i feel like when he died it really cut one of her last tethers to her own humanity / “real life”, so i’d love to see something about her spiraling out a bit after that.
request 3: criminal minds (hotch/garcia)
ok honestly i’ve never even read hotch/garcia but the more i thought about it the more i was like… yk what. i can see it. i’m on s10 in my rewatch and i can’t stop thinking the halloween episode where he went to her gay fortune teller friend’s place to pick up jack’s darth vader mask… there is something really sweet between them! like he loves his whole team obviously but also. i think she is his favourite. honestly anything from a small moment in canon to a future thing where hotch didn’t leave the team and they kind of shift into a different type of relationship… i would enjoy it no matter what.
but i will say that hotch is such a repressed character that i don’t really want to read anything that’s very explicitly romantic or has him making grand declarations, because i don’t think that’s really his style. those quiet gestures and small statements are really what make me love him as a character, so i’d love to see that! and he has that old-fashioned (middle-aged) aura so i added the slow dancing tag because i think it could be so charming… and i think penelope would be charmed! and i know i listed unhappy ending in the DNWs but honestly… you can go as melancholy with the aura as you want (terminal illness, chronic illness, etc), as long as there’s a lot of love. for me bittersweet and unhappy are two different things, and i love bittersweet. so do with that what you will.
