Candy Hearts Exchange 2025
First of all thank you!!!!! Whatever you write, I am sure you will love it! I wrote this all out so you can get an idea of the vibes I enjoy, but the ideas are just ideas, if you already have something you want to write please feel free!
General likes: hurt/comfort, casefic, quiet moments together, finding romance & intimacy in mundane everyday life, the romance of being the one to help someone when they need it, driving in cars at night (or the sci-fi equivalent), time spent in liminal spaces (gas stations, cars, airports, etc). Exploring non-romantic relationships (friendship, family, intimate coworkers, etc). Getting stuck together for whatever reason (a work case, the Curse, a weird roommate situation, etc). Outside perspective / POV of a relationship. Honestly I like romantic fic that reads a little bit gen (established relationships are fine, relationships that are technically not romantic but have insane weird undertones are fine, relationships that are intense but also undefinable are fine and in fact welcome!), the interactions themselves are more important to me than any type of romantic resolution. I hope that makes sense.
General dislikes: hurt no comfort, overly graphic violence, pwp, romance as a solution to personal or interpersonal conflict, cliché romantic tropes, unhappy endings. I like to be put through the emotional wringer but I don’t want that to be the whole fic.
Request 1: Enterprise, Trip/T’Pol
It’s been a minute since I last rewatched so the details here are a little shaky, BUT I would love a fic exploring either A) the time period where they’re sleeping together and T’Pol’s high all the time and Trip has no idea or B) the time period following that time period, where Trip doesn’t know T’Pol was high the whole time they were sleeping together. I actually really like T’Pol’s addiction storyline, at least in theory (obviously, Enterprise being the show that it was, the execution was iffy at best), especially her scenes with Phlox and her realization that she can never escape the cravings her addition has left her with, and I’d really like to read something about her trying to explain that to Trip. But honestly I will read pretty much anything!!! A silly little adventure to a mysterious planet, a wacky time loop, a stupid bodyswap… It’s Star Trek, you can do anything!
Also, feel free to ignore the ending of the show and write me a happily-ever-after with baby Elizabeth, but let it be said that I do love being hurt emotionally so I’d also read about them getting back together after her death… I draw the line at acknowledging that Trip is dead, though. Please do not do that.
Request 2: Farscape, John/Aeryn
This is maybe the first time I’ll ever do this, but I find the trajectory of the show satisfying enough as it is that I’d kind of just like to read an AU for these guys… Maybe something about them getting pulled into a mirror universe or alternate reality, or just an alternate timeline branching off from the show.
BUT having said that, I’d also love to read a quiet moment or a fun adventure in the early days, some time in season 1 or 2 maybe? Something highlighting their cultural differences and the different ways they are and aren’t comfortable showing vulnerability, maybe. Some ideas:
- telling each other childhood stories / fairytales while stranded somewhere
- dream sharing
- are we high or are we stuck in the time loop or are we high and stuck in the time loop?
Request 3: Killjoys, Dutch & Johnny
My children ;~; I haven’t thought about them in so long, but when I saw them on the list I had to pick them… Their relationship is so special to me and personallyyyyyyy I think they are the perfect choice for a little hurt/comfort situation… Dutch is so prickly and so bad at receiving love, especially in the beginning when they first meet, and I’d love to see something exploring her learning how to let those walls down a little and let Johnny try and take care of her. Waking up from a nightmare, getting a midnight snack, getting caught patching up an injury that was worse than it seemed at first… something like that. Or even the other way, because I think as protective as she is of him, it’s difficult for her to be gentle. So I’d love to see a little pre-show or early days adventure for them!
Request 4: BTVS, Buffy/Faith OR Buffy/Tara OR Faith & Dawn
Buffy/Faith: Honestly I will read basically anything, if you want to do an early days thing or a season seven interlude or a post-show reunion… I would be thrilled regardless! If you choose to do something S7 or later, I really like Faith’s “Am I the good slayer now?” line and the implications of that, the sort of role reversal that happens now that Buffy’s struggling so much more than she was back in S3/4. Some ideas:
- bodyswap part II, by accident this time
- dream sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially post show or during S7
- stuck somewhere and forced to catch up on what’s happened over the last few years (stakeout???? curse????? airport????? you choose)
Buffy/Tara: The obvious suggestion is S6 post-Dead Things with Buffy getting closer to Tara as the one person she has trusted to know about her shameful secret, but I’d also love a post-S4 story that addresses Tara’s presence in Buffy’s weird Restless dream, which is something I think about soooooo often. The contrast between the two of them is really interesting to me, Tara’s softness and lack of armour vs. Buffy’s constant need to put up a strong front and her almost brittle, shell-like demeanour, particularly from S5 onwards. Ideas: dream sharing, liminal space conversations while getting midnight snacks in the kitchen, some type of cursed situation where they’re the only two still awake (or the only two left?) and they have to figure out how to bring everyone else back.
Faith & Dawn: Honestly anything with them interacting in S7 would scratch the itch BUT hear me out. A post-S7 awkward road trip because Buffy’s gone missing and Dawn showed up on Faith’s doorstep looking for her… I’m just saying. The vibes would be off the charts.
Request 5: Voyager, Tom/B’Elanna
Ok so what I really want from P/T fic is basically the same thing I’ve always wanted from P/T fic, which is to examine the weird s5-s6 period when B’Elanna is critically depressed and Tom is trying his best but ultimately kind of fucking it up. The B’Elanna-centric episodes in S5-6 tend to be pretty dark (Extreme Risk, Juggernaut, Barge of the Dead) so I’d really like to read something that digs some more into that, in an emotionally honest way. The show does a lot with dreams, surreality, and perspective, so that could be interesting? Some ideas:
- fucked up shared nightmares
- any kind of psychological horror &/or a situation where one or both of them is unable to tell dreams from reality
- one of them is missing and the other one has to pretend to be completely fine and fit for work while steadily unravelling
- haunted warp core????????????
That being said, I’m also a huuuuuuuge ensemble fan, so examining their relationship by having it in the background while they interact with other characters would be delightful. I’m particularly interested in reading about both of their friendships with Harry, as well as B’Elanna’s sometimes fraught dynamic with Janeway.
Request 6: SG-1, Daniel/Vala
The thing about Daniel and Vala is that they are, objectively speaking, absolutely terrible for each other. BUT. Every day of my life I am thinking about when she got burned to death and he held her body until she came back to life and then so so so so carefully helped her stand up. Like I’m sorry but that’s just how it is.
So. Here are some ideas:
- tied together by the Curse (again)
- stranded on a hostile planet
- fake married but they can’t even fool the locals
- QUARANTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- imprisonment and possibly tortured on an alien planet
- cursed time loop
- nonconsensual telepathy (reading each other’s deepest darkest most vulnerable thoughts by accident)
Basically any concept where they are locked together, preferably whilst injured, and forced to show vulnerability which as we all know they both !!!hate!!! to do. I love anything that leans into how deeply annoying both of them are, albeit in extremely different ways. This makes it sound like I don’t love them but no, it’s because I DO love them that I want to see them portrayed with honesty!!! Flaws and all!!!
